Questions answered by Kitty McNeill.
Q1: Aside from this Quickie, what is the most desperate marketing tactic you plan on using to get bums in seats this August? 280 chars
We’re thinking of doing riff-offs with passers-by. You know, not only bringing creativity to the stage but also to the streets. It’s community outreach. If they beat us, they have to come and see NewsRevue. I’m dreadful at riff-offs, so attendance should be excellent.
Q2: If your show walked into a cocktail bar, what would it order?
A Baby Guinness. Over in a flash, delivers far more than seems physically possible, and leaves you saying “go on then, one more”. Which is basically NewsRevue in cocktail form.
Q3: The Fringe is horribly expensive. How are you financing this run? Did you remortgage your house, sell your granny, or start an illicit side hustle?
I did consider selling feet pics, but considering I shave my toes more often than my legs, the profit margins just weren’t there. Instead, I’m financing the Fringe the traditional way: blind optimism and repeatedly saying “it’ll all work out”.
Q4: All shows will have their tough days. What sophisticated self-care strategies will you employ to survive?
Tough days are our forte. In this show I’ve played Nigel Farage as a woman with double D’s, so at this point “self-care” is mostly just continuing to function in society without accidentally practicing an accent at the Sainsbury’s checkout.
