A Fringe Quickie (#126) with ‘Take Care’

Questions answered by Millie Thomas.

Q1: Aside from this Quickie, what is the most desperate marketing tactic you plan on using to get bums in seats this August? 280 chars

Other than completely compromising our digital footprint, we plan to harass and harangue media outlets across the nation, coerce our Producer’s 92 year old grandad into flyering in Edinburgh (look out for him), and generally TAKE CARE of our marketing strategy.

Q2: Cancel culture has finally come for your show. What sins has it committed?

With a show this wholesome, we’d like to see cancel culture try! Although our Director did once email a charity with the subject ‘Late SHIT Theatre’, leading our Producer to believe we were being cyber bullied (Edie is now banned from the company Gmail).

Q3: The Fringe is horribly expensive. How are you financing this run? Did you remortgage your house, sell your granny, or start an illicit side hustle?

Our Sound Designer has been exhorting us to organise a strip show fundraiser. However, we felt this wasn’t quite in keeping with ‘Take Care’s’ heartfelt depiction of the staff of a care home. Stay tuned if we ever put on a more sultry show though 😉

Q4: We all have weird pre-performance rituals. What is yours, and how confused would a normal person be if they walked in on you doing it?

Our last show, ‘In Hysterics’ was memorably preceded by the Cast and Directors chanting ‘clit, clit, clit’, in the wings, despite concerned looks from the theatre’s staff. This time, we aim to spend 10 minutes improv arguing with a chair so we feel confident dealing with critics.
