Síomha Hennessy’s 30 Under 30 is a comedy cabaret like no other—uniquely Irish, completely deadpan and absolutely hilarious. The premise? Síomha wants to be a teen pop star—but she’s 35.
The show is a series of original songs, witty monologues, crowd banter and some ad-hoc banter with the tech guy (love it). My favourite part? The song from the point of view of her contraceptive coil. If you’ve got any connection to Ireland, your face will hurt from agreeing so much—especially the bit about the bus, that brought me pure joy.
There are a couple of things that could be tightened up in the show. The whole “30 Under 30” concept? Honestly, I’m still a bit lost on that one. I’m not a fan of needing to use Google to understand the show. And while Síomha’s playful crowd work was funny, I couldn’t help but think she could’ve drawn more energy from a broader interaction—like asking for a show of hands on who’s Irish or who’s an engineer. It would’ve kept the energy flowing and given her even more to play off, which could have really taken this show to another level.
The show’s very Irish vibe might have puzzled some, but that’s part of what makes it special. Honestly, I’m already tempted to see it again—especially after scrolling through her Instagram and TikTok feeds. If you find yourself doing the same, you’ll love spending an hour with her live.
