Questions answered by Alex Franklin.
Q1: Aside from this Quickie, what is the most desperate marketing tactic you plan on using to get bums in seats this August? 280 chars
We’ve kidnapped all the pet fish in Edinburgh. We’re holding them for ransom. We’re sending mail to the families with sentences spelled from letters crudely cut out of magazines. The ONLY way we’ll return their aquatic friends is if they come to Mothman: A Romance Musical.
Q2: Cancel culture has finally come for your show. What sins has it committed?
Arguably the show is about a woman trying to sleep with a mothman which…is that illegal? Honestly unsure, I feel it would at least be a court case. I guess you’d have to prove that it was the man brain rather than the moth brain…maybe give it a Rubik’s Cube or puzzle to test it.
Q3: The Fringe is horribly expensive. How are you financing this run? Did you remortgage your house, sell your granny, or start an illicit side hustle?
We’re the actual people that robbed the Louvre. Not that team of robbers you saw on the news, that was just the group of naive patsies we set up. We just laid low for a bit while they took the fall, then sold the various rare art items on the black market to mysterious buyers.
Q4: All shows will have their tough days. What sophisticated self-care strategies will you employ to survive?
We’ll probably take out our frustration on a neighbouring show or some sort of pigeon that we come across maybe. Something small enough to not be a crime, but something large enough that if you saw us do it, it would change your opinion of us forever.
