Ava Beaux has enchanted Edinburgh audiences for years, providing a much-needed female perspective in a heavily male-dominated field. Last year, she charmed crowds with handmade figurines; this year, she returns with her most whimsical material to date. Blending magic, clowning, and storytelling, Beaux eschews the tropes of the old-school gentleman magician in favour of witches and folklore. Cold War Espionage in Mason King – The Mind Spy
Following a sold-out run at the 2025 Fringe, Mason King returns with an unnerving, immersive experience inspired by real Cold War psychic experiments. Leaning heavily into psychological theatre where nothing is quite what it seems, King casts the audience as active participants in a series of psychic tests. His slick, quietly provocative style weaves together thought transmission, predictions, and unexpected connections to create an atmosphere of profound mystery.

Spurred on by an overheard insult dismissing magic as “the lowest form of entertainment,” award-winning performer Robert Malissa sets out to rigorously defend his art. He achieves this through the guise of Mindelagosi—the world’s greatest fake psychic, carnival conman, and slippery card shark. Delivering original sleight of hand alongside mentalism, Malissa makes a compelling, highly entertaining case for the enduring value of deception, promising to charm his way past the cynicism of even the most ambivalent audience members.

Graphic Late-Night Comedy in 18+ Magic – The Magic Show Your Mum Shouldn’t See
Strictly for those who are not easily offended, Ivor Harden brings his X-rated magic show back to the Fringe following a sold-out debut run. Harden performs as a dangerously inappropriate German magician who is blissfully unaware that we have moved past 1979. By pairing jaw-dropping illusions with fearless, graphic adult comedy, the show embraces absolute chaos. No topic is off-limits, making for a filthy, fearless, and wildly funny hour of late-night entertainment.

Site-Specific Secrets in The Secret Room at Lauriston Castle
For those seeking immersive, site-specific work, this perennially sold-out event is a must-book. Hidden on the outskirts of the city at the end of a winding driveway, the ancient Lauriston Castle serves as a dreamlike stage for three expert magicians. Performing among tapestries, secret passages, and clandestine laboratories, the magicians weave illusions tied directly to the castle’s history—from a surreptitious alchemist judge to a gambler who nearly lost it all. It is a uniquely atmospheric Edinburgh experience.

Suspending Disbelief with Andrew Frost: Just Let Me Have This
The urge to figure out “how it’s done” is the magician’s greatest obstacle, and Andrew Frost has had enough. Widely acknowledged as one of the greatest contemporary card magicians in the world—praised as “a brilliant magician” by Derren Brown and “a phenomenon” by David Blaine—Frost uses this hour to actively combat audiences’ defensive need to outsmart him. Through emotional manipulation, outright lying, and his signature charm, he does whatever it takes to force the suspension of disbelief, resulting in a show that is as funny as it is technically astounding.
