Questions answered by Paola Veneto.
Q1: Aside from this Quickie, what is the most desperate marketing tactic you plan on using to get bums in seats this August? 280 chars
The promise of a mind orgasm—the best kind, because it lasts longer. Van Gogh: Between Worlds awakens all five senses while you sit still, as your eyes spin between physics and metaphysics, where Vincent always lived.
Q2: Cancel culture has finally come for your show. What sins has it committed?
I told you the truth about beauty. It made you so bold, fearless and alive that they called you subversive—and dangerous. So gloriously colourful you frightened the grey powers. But here’s the secret: you’ll haunt their dreams forever.
Q3: The Fringe is horribly expensive. How are you financing this run? Did you remortgage your house, sell your granny, or start an illicit side hustle?
You joke, but I really did sell my house. Better still, my producing partner and I imagine we’re castaways, surviving on two rags and a few roots. It helps. Besides, castaways are undeniably sexy.
Q4: How will the audience remember you the morning after?
I promised you a mind orgasm that would almost blow your head off, remember? Now imagine the clearest hangover: craving a box of oil paints just to give shape to the words and images you’ve never quite managed to bring into the world.
