A Fringe Quickie (#287) with ‘My Life Is A Sonnet’

Q1: Aside from this Quickie, what is the most desperate marketing tactic you plan on using to get bums in seats this August? 280 chars

This may sound like a cop-out, but flyering is so unlike me, it almost feels like a desperate act! It’s saying, “Here I am. Can I have an hour of your time?” But when I succeed in making a connection with a stranger, it’s really gratifying.

Q2: If your show suddenly developed a massive ego and became the biggest diva in the 2026 Fringe, what absurd, hyper-specific item would be mandatory on its dressing room rider?

All I ask is that Shakespeare be provided with a time travel machine so he can be there to give me words of encouragement, and oh okay, I also demand that the Muse of Fire be there to ignite my soul.

Q3: If you brought this show home for the holidays, how would your parents react to them?

Q8: I tried this experiment! On my mom’s side I’m from a family of warm, loving Mensches (it’s our family name!). Yet I’ve struggled all my life with being emotionally shut down. At my first show, the Mensch clan filled the crowd. They welcomed me afterwards with big hugs.

Q4: How will the audience remember you the morning after?

So many people want to talk to me the next day about their own experiences with “the silent treatment”, growing up in families where emotions were taboo. I love these direct honest conversations. It’s the antidote to the silent treatment!
