A Fringe Quickie (#118) with ‘Margaret Thatcher Queen of Hollywood’

Questions answered by Matt Tedford.

Q1: Aside from this Quickie, what is the most desperate marketing tactic you plan on using to get bums in seats this August? 280 chars

It’s like the campaign trail – I’m Margaret Thatcher walking Scotland. Desperate? Maybe. Foolish? Some say so. But it’s worked for 10 years. I’m a walking billboard: selfies, burger vans, kissed hands, shaken babies. I’ve also been heckled, jeered and kicked by Glaswegians.

Q2: If your show walked into a cocktail bar, what would it order?

One of everything, in the biggest glass you have. It really is something for everyone. Music, Comedy, Drama, Drag, Politics, Disco, Cabaret, Crème de Menthe. And one of those little umbrellas, please.

Q3: If your show suddenly developed a massive ego and became the biggest diva in the 2026 Fringe, what absurd, hyper-specific item would be mandatory on its dressing room rider?

I am a massive Fringe diva! I demand my own Winnebago, bottles of good Scotch, prolonged eye contact from everyone I meet, deregulated markets, and a large battered sausage with curry sauce after the show. If I don’t get it, I’ve no problem making people unemployed.

Q4: How will the audience remember you the morning after?

Was it all a fever dream, or did Margaret Thatcher and some backing dancers smash those musical numbers? Yes! We’ve got earworm showtunes you’ll still be singing in the shower the next morning. Buy another ticket and come back for a second date.
