A Fringe Quickie (#90) with ‘Brendan Scannell: The Abyss’

Questions answered by Brendan Scannell.

Q1: Aside from this Quickie, what is the most desperate marketing tactic you plan on using to get bums in seats this August? 280 chars

I’ve got a suitcase full of Merch I am LUGGING from Los Angeles. If I get stopped by customs I will have to tell them “I am doing a Solo Show” and all the officials will arrest me for embarrassing my family and country

Q2: If your show walked into a cocktail bar, what would it order?

My show, like its writer, has been to rehab because of wee little drink problem (Irish Catholic) so it will be ordering a ginger beer but buying the audience a round of shots

Q3: All shows will have their tough days. What sophisticated self-care strategies will you employ to survive?

I love a sound bath to help reset my brain when I’m in distress from bombing / not selling any tickets. Not sure if there are crystal bowls in Edinburgh but I will settle for a bagpipe skrelting into my ears

Q4: How will the audience remember you the morning after?

I hope their jaw hurts (from laughing!) and their eyes are stinging (from crying laughing!) and the only burning feeling they are experiencing is a desire to be vulnerable.
