A Fringe Quickie (#48) with ‘The Meeples XXX; and Bottom’s Dream’

Questions answered by The Artists Workshop.

Q1: Aside from this Quickie, what is the most desperate marketing tactic you plan on using to get bums in seats this August? 280 chars

Given, in The Meeples, we’ve already got puppets, “coke-snorting” strippers, and a detachable penis, “desperate” STARTS at handing out flyers stapled to actual bums. After that? Blood sacrifice to the Fringe gods and aggressive eye contact.

Q2: All shows will have their tough days. What sophisticated self-care strategies will you employ to survive?

With aerial work, puppetry, singing, actor-musicians, and audience-fueled revelry, our recovery plan is cutting-edge: sleep, sunlight, hydration, and aggressively competitive cast game nights. If all else fails, we’ll simply lie face-down in a park until showtime.

Q3: If all the shows running right now were at a massive Fringe house party, what is your show doing?

“Bottom’s Dream” is in the corner making out with a pair of noise-cancelling headphones while bluegrass blasts into the void. “The Meeples” is the life of the party: doing drugs, starting chaos, and when the cops inevitably arrive, going out in a blaze of glorious bad decisions.

Q4: How will the audience remember you the morning after?

The Meeples will have you randomly guffawing three days later—then quietly pondering how we treat people (and puppets), and maybe inspiring a spectacularly questionable life choice. Bottom’s Dream will linger like a beautiful, bizarre dream you can’t quite shake.
