A Fringe Quickie (#322) with ‘SHINJUKU’

Questions answered by cmfwood.

Q1: Aside from this Quickie, what is the most desperate marketing tactic you plan on using to get bums in seats this August? 280 chars

Inviting Andrew Tate and Paul Bilzerian (look him up on Instagram…) to my opening night. They’ll either entirely empathise with one of our characters – or they’ll walk out in disgust. I’d love to see which.

Q2: If your show suddenly developed a massive ego and became the biggest diva in the 2026 Fringe, what absurd, hyper-specific item would be mandatory on its dressing room rider?

450 copies of Laura Bates’ excellent book, Men Who Hate Women and 450 party bags. So we can lure our audience along with the promise of this essential read.

Q3: If you brought this show home for the holidays, how would your parents react to them?

My mum would shudder, cry a bit and say “was that what it was like, working in advertising?” My dad (an ex-science teacher) would say “teachers wouldn’t have done that in my day. Though the pupils might.”

Q4: How will the audience remember you the morning after?

With a niggling nagging feeling that they should stop kidding themselves that the manosphere is something Louis Theroux dreamt up – and start thinking about what they can do to help.
