Tour Takes Off
A stage twist on a modern myth is heading out across the UK. The Lightning Thief: The Percy Jackson Musical, drawn from Rick Riordan’s bestselling novel, launches a tour this autumn, starting at Theatre Royal Windsor from 15–23 August 2025. Fresh from its London run at The Other Palace since November 2024, it’s booked nine stops so far—Newcastle, Milton Keynes, Liverpool, and beyond into 2026—with more venues and casting still to come. It’s a chance to bring Percy Jackson’s saga to new corners.
Theatre fans can map their visits, though anyone not based in England will find that this ‘national’ tour, isn’t scheduled to cross a border – yet.
From Book to Boards
The journey begins in Windsor, then moves to Newcastle Theatre Royal (27–31 August), Milton Keynes Theatre (3–6 September), and Liverpool Empire (16–20 September). It continues to Brighton Theatre Royal (30 September–4 October), Stoke-on-Trent’s Regent Theatre (7–11 October), Coventry’s Belgrade (14–18 October), Bradford’s Alhambra (21–25 October), and Wimbledon’s New Theatre (28 October–1 November). Further dates are in the works—check percyjacksononstage.com, with tickets hitting sales in March and April.
“We’re thrilled to bring Percy Jackson’s epic journey to more UK audiences following the success we’ve had in London,”
Producer Paul Taylor-Mills.
Producer Paul Taylor-Mills said: “We’re thrilled to bring Percy Jackson’s epic journey to more UK audiences following the success we’ve had in London. This show is full of energy, humour, and heart—whether you’re a long-time fan or new to the world of Camp Half-Blood, you’re in for an unforgettable adventure.” Running 2 hours 10 minutes with an interval, it adapts Riordan’s tale with Joe Tracz’s book, Rob Rokicki’s music and lyrics, and Lizzi Gee’s direction and choreography.

Percy’s a New York teen who discovers he’s Poseidon’s half-blood son—suddenly facing wild powers, mythical foes, and a hero’s path. His quest, pals in tow, teeters on world-saving stakes. Fans won’t need this introduction, and there are a lot of you out there!
What’s in Play
Riordan’s Percy Jackson series—180 million copies sold—has fuelled films and a Disney+ hit. The Lightning Thief: The Percy Jackson Musical started off-Broadway in 2014, toured the US twice, and ran 16 weeks on Broadway in 2019. Since November, it’s been at The Other Palace, earning nods—The Times said: “A bolt of stage magic. A show that whisks you to another dimension,” and The Guardian added: “Catchy songs, original choreography and a quirky spirit brings out the directness and humour of Rick Riordan’s mythical quest.” It ends there 31 August 2025, with the tour’s launch.

This UK run follows that London stint, reaching beyond the capital. As mentioned the nine stops cover England—Newcastle’s grand Theatre Royal, Liverpool’s vast Empire, to Bradford’s historic Alhambra. Let’s hope a few dates in Scotland, Wales or Northern Ireland can let the producers say the words “national tour” with love and honesty in their hearts.
Why It’s Out There
Tracz’s script tracks Percy’s dive into godhood, Rokicki’s songs add a tuneful edge, and Gee’s staging aims at the epic. It’s a tale of teen grit meeting epic odds, rooted in Riordan’s first book. Tickets drop soon—Coventry’s on 1 April, Bradford’s on 14 April, and most on 4 April—giving fans a window to plan.
Percy’s story has obvious appeal—books, screens, now stages. London’s run shows a real international appetite, so ticket sales will likely be strong wherever it goes – even outside of England! Gasp!
What’s Coming?
Casting’s still quiet—those who care will find out soon. For now, you’ll just have to mark your calendars if you don’t want to miss out on tickets and happen to be in England, or willing to travel. The Lightning Thief will probably set stages on fire, demi-god style, and it would be a pity for the rest of the UK to have to warm their hands at a distance.
