#FringeQuickies is The Quinntessential Review’s original bite-sized Q&A series with EdFringe performers — fast, funny, and scrollable in seconds. You’ll laugh, you’ll raise an eyebrow, and you might just find your next must-see show.

New Quickies drop daily from Monday, June 29th to Thursday, August 6th 2026, all in one big glorious doomscroll. With over 10% of this year’s Fringe taking part, it’s one of the biggest showcases of the festival.

You’ll also spot a few boosted Quickies along the way — from performers helping to keep this whole thing running. We love them. You should too.

  • A Fringe Quickie (#444) with ‘Bloody Knees’

    Questions answered by Madeleine Sanderson.

Q1: Aside from this Quickie, what is the most desperate marketing tactic you plan on using to get bums in seats this August? 280 chars

i’m going to bully every hinge match (please God, it would be a first) into going …failing that, can always ply potential customers with lidl tinnies

Q2: If your show walked into a cocktail bar, what would it order?

double Bells and Pepsi Max Cherry (my Spoons order), no ice, no straw, and DEFINITELY no fruit. to be chucked up in the gutter outside about 30 mins later

Q3: Cancel culture has finally come for your show. What sins has it committed?

the main character literally shoots and kills a small child in a hungover fit of rage

Q4: The Fringe is horribly expensive. How are you financing this run? Did you remortgage your house, sell your granny, or start an illicit side hustle?

made the cast all get KFC tramp stamps for the sponsorship money

  • A Fringe Quickie (#443) with ‘Mothman: A Romance Musical’

    Questions answered by Alex Franklin.

Q1: Aside from this Quickie, what is the most desperate marketing tactic you plan on using to get bums in seats this August? 280 chars

We’ve kidnapped all the pet fish in Edinburgh. We’re holding them for ransom. We’re sending mail to the families with sentences spelled from letters crudely cut out of magazines. The ONLY way we’ll return their aquatic friends is if they come to Mothman: A Romance Musical.

Q2: Cancel culture has finally come for your show. What sins has it committed?

Arguably the show is about a woman trying to sleep with a mothman which…is that illegal? Honestly unsure, I feel it would at least be a court case. I guess you’d have to prove that it was the man brain rather than the moth brain…maybe give it a Rubik’s Cube or puzzle to test it.

Q3: The Fringe is horribly expensive. How are you financing this run? Did you remortgage your house, sell your granny, or start an illicit side hustle?

We’re the actual people that robbed the Louvre. Not that team of robbers you saw on the news, that was just the group of naive patsies we set up. We just laid low for a bit while they took the fall, then sold the various rare art items on the black market to mysterious buyers.

Q4: All shows will have their tough days. What sophisticated self-care strategies will you employ to survive?

We’ll probably take out our frustration on a neighbouring show or some sort of pigeon that we come across maybe. Something small enough to not be a crime, but something large enough that if you saw us do it, it would change your opinion of us forever.

  • A Fringe Quickie (#442) with ‘Love (5 Ways)’

    Questions answered by Sabah Kemp.

Q1: Aside from this Quickie, what is the most desperate marketing tactic you plan on using to get bums in seats this August? 280 chars

I’ve been asking my entire family questions about their sex life, including my Dad. You can’t unlearn that your father was recently part of a ‘menage a trois’. He even told me, ‘the sofa you’re sat on right now is where it often happened’. Horror. Will it even help the show?

Q2: If your show walked into a cocktail bar, what would it order?

Appletini: a drink with a cult following, from a different time, a maverick. It’s obnoxious & thinks it’s cooler than it is. Yet, there’s something intoxicating about its unashamed bright green nectar. If you can pull off the Appletini, you can do anything. Don’t yuck our yum.

Q3: Cancel culture has finally come for your show. What sins has it committed?

Crimes against Cornish Independence, monogamy, sensitivity reads, the basque country accent, tantric workshops for couples, good communication. And a very personal one: against my sister’s polycule who inspired the play. I hope all seven of them have capacity to forgive us.

Q4: How will the audience remember you the morning after?

You may not remember us, but subconsiously there will be signs. A Spanish Tempress called Iza perusing your mind? Sudden uncontrollable urge to open up your 7 year monogamous relationship?…’But baby, thousands of years of social development and monogamy is our only choice?’

    About the show

  • A Fringe Quickie (#441) with ‘Parking Spot: The Musical!’

    Questions answered by Lyndsey Alexander.

Q1: Aside from this Quickie, what is the most desperate marketing tactic you plan on using to get bums in seats this August? 280 chars

Find us wearing giant cone costumes on the Royal Mile and handing out ‘parking tickets’ for a free pint!

Q2: If your show walked into a cocktail bar, what would it order?

Whatever the person next to it ordered…then it would slowly slide onto their stool when they got up. It’s a musical about a parking spot in New York City, so territorial behavior is kind of our whole thing.

Q3: If your show suddenly developed a massive ego and became the biggest diva in the 2026 Fringe, what absurd, hyper-specific item would be mandatory on its dressing room rider?

A guaranteed empty parking space directly outside the venue, cordoned off with velvet rope, that absolutely no one is allowed to use. It doesn’t have a car. That’s not the point. The point is that the space is reserved.

Q4: If all the shows running right now were at a massive Fringe house party, what is your show doing?

It’s the one who saved a seat on the couch for someone who said they might come. Everyone keeps trying to sit there. It keeps saying ‘sorry, this is taken.’ At 1am, the person actually shows up. Best moment of the party.

    About the show

  • A Fringe Quickie (#440) with ‘The Great Shakespeare Showdown in Silver City’

    Questions answered by Dennis Elkins.

Q1: Aside from this Quickie, what is the most desperate marketing tactic you plan on using to get bums in seats this August? 280 chars

It’s temptin’ to round ’em up and hog-tie them to their seats – like a county fair contest. But that’d be a bit alarmin’ to our more sensitive patrons. And bribing ‘em with silver dollars would be excessive and expensive. So, we’ll just have to guarantee gut-bustin’ belly laughs!

Q2: If your show walked into a cocktail bar, what would it order?

For starters, our show, “The Great Shakespeare Showdown” would never be so pretentious as to just amble into some “cocktail bar!” It’d have to be a real rip-roarin’ saloon where only two drinks are served – flat beer or rye whiskey. And nobody with any smarts orders the beer!

Q3: If your show suddenly developed a massive ego and became the biggest diva in the 2026 Fringe, what absurd, hyper-specific item would be mandatory on its dressing room rider?

“Absurd”? A dressing room mirror for makeup is standard and we would certainly demand a full-length mirror to take in our full-length splendor (plus hand-mirrors for closeups). But what is really needed is a mirrored ceiling – and you have to come see the show to understand why!

Q4: How will the audience remember you the morning after?

As Puck says, “If we shadows have offended, think . . . you have but slumber’d here while these visions did appear.” You may not have stories to tell your children, but no one’ll experience that “walk of shame!” No! You’ll awake with a sense of pride and head held high!

  • A Fringe Quickie (#439) with ‘Jonathan Oldfield: Exquisite Corpse’

    Questions answered by Jonathan Oldfield.

Q1: Aside from this Quickie, what is the most desperate marketing tactic you plan on using to get bums in seats this August? 280 chars

I will be buying all of Mosque Kitchen’s food so that in order for people to have it they have to come to my show and they’ll get it at the end.

Q2: All shows will have their tough days. What sophisticated self-care strategies will you employ to survive?

I will eat popcorn. Lots of popcorn. Life becomes a film when you’re eating popcorn.

Q3: We all have weird pre-performance rituals. What is yours, and how confused would a normal person be if they walked in on you doing it?

I do an ancient dance. The dance is so ancient that anyone who sees it immediately knows it and joins in. It’s the perfect pre-show ritual because it is ancient and it is a dance.

Q4: If you brought this show home for the holidays, how would your parents react to them?

My parents would laugh at them. Because it’s a comedy show.

    Questions answered by Piotr Mirowski.

Q1: Aside from this Quickie, what is the most desperate marketing tactic you plan on using to get bums in seats this August? 280 chars

To actually get casted in a reality show and hustle our show on TV.

Q2: Cancel culture has finally come for your show. What sins has it committed?

We have been using, abusing and building AI into our shows since 2016 (we pioneered the genre, look us up).

Q3: The Fringe is horribly expensive. How are you financing this run? Did you remortgage your house, sell your granny, or start an illicit side hustle?

Venture capital funding AND European Union interdisciplinary art and science grants (one of these is true).

Q4: We all have weird pre-performance rituals. What is yours, and how confused would a normal person be if they walked in on you doing it?

Most of us are playing Bunny Bunny, Mind Meld or Word at a Time, some of us do that while make last minute code changes to the deep fake generator or check the connection with the AR glasses.

    Questions answered by Hanna Andreá.

Q1: Aside from this Quickie, what is the most desperate marketing tactic you plan on using to get bums in seats this August? 280 chars

We’re sending the Macbeths into the street to chase people into the house using inflatable pool guitars. Also, Puck is planning to bribe people with Scottish Tablets, our new sweet obsession.

Q2: Cancel culture has finally come for your show. What sins has it committed?

Being too silly. Being too clever. Being too catchy. Also, it definitely discriminates against Scottish nobility.

Q3: The Fringe is horribly expensive. How are you financing this run? Did you remortgage your house, sell your granny, or start an illicit side hustle?

We mortgaged King Lear’s crown. He’s still mad about it. Also, so many people have poured so much love into this show on a shoestring budget to make it happen!

Q4: If all the shows running right now were at a massive Fringe house party, what is your show doing?

Very inebriatedly reciting sonnet 88 to anyone who will listen while searching for Romeo.
