#FringeQuickies is The Quinntessential Review’s original bite-sized Q&A series with EdFringe performers — fast, funny, and scrollable in seconds. You’ll laugh, you’ll raise an eyebrow, and you might just find your next must-see show.

New Quickies drop daily from Monday, June 29th to Thursday, August 6th 2026, all in one big glorious doomscroll. With over 10% of this year’s Fringe taking part, it’s one of the biggest showcases of the festival.

You’ll also spot a few boosted Quickies along the way — from performers helping to keep this whole thing running. We love them. You should too.

Submission form for performers will remain open until Thursday, 23rd July, 2026: https://tally.so/r/vGdAx0

  • A Fringe Quickie (#433) with ‘Liberace & Liza – A Tribute’

    Questions answered by Jillian Snow.

Q1: Aside from this Quickie, what is the most desperate marketing tactic you plan on using to get bums in seats this August? 280 chars

L&L plan to tool around town in the Rolls Royce offering rides to Edinburgh Castle BUT REALLY the unsuspecting riders will be driven directly to Underbelly Ermintrude for their show.

Q2: If your show walked into a cocktail bar, what would it order?

A Flaming Banana Daiquiri with a side of bottomless blue cheese-stuffed olives. A combination nobody asked for, but everyone secretly wanted.

Q3: The Fringe is horribly expensive. How are you financing this run? Did you remortgage your house, sell your granny, or start an illicit side hustle?

Liza’s been selling scarves on QVC and Liberace sold some of his Polaroid Camera stock.

Q4: If your show suddenly developed a massive ego and became the biggest diva in the 2026 Fringe, what absurd, hyper-specific item would be mandatory on its dressing room rider?

A coin-operated slot machine for Liberace’s mother. A basket of Cairn Terrier puppies, hand-delivered by Alan Carr (and absolutely nobody else). And industrial quantities of Percy Pigs, meticulously separated by whimsy.

  • A Fringe Quickie (#432) with ‘Thank you, fuck you, and I’m sorry’

    Questions answered by Jonny Forever.

Q1: Aside from this Quickie, what is the most desperate marketing tactic you plan on using to get bums in seats this August? 280 chars

I don’t know about desperate, but I am putting my ancestors on the case. This involves regular offerings of tobacco, spirits, and chocolate, and manifesting multiple 5 star reviews (this or something better). If by week 2 this has failed to manifest, I will need to source a goat.

Q2: If your show walked into a cocktail bar, what would it order?

A Bloody Maria, with ceremonial grade blue agave tequila and about half a shredded horseradish. Savoury, yet zingy, with nutrition to counteract the heavy spirit. Add own tears to taste.

Q3: If your show suddenly developed a massive ego and became the biggest diva in the 2026 Fringe, what absurd, hyper-specific item would be mandatory on its dressing room rider?

    Definitely a goat.

Q4: If all the shows running right now were at a massive Fringe house party, what is your show doing?

My show would be holding a seance in one of the bedrooms. Hopefully whomever’s bed this is won’t notice all the ectoplasm.

  • A Fringe Quickie (#431) with ‘Improv Comedy with Box of Frogs’

Questions answered by Matt Smith (not that one).

Q1: Aside from this Quickie, what is the most desperate marketing tactic you plan on using to get bums in seats this August? 280 chars

We started improvising songs about people while they passed by our venue last year. I think we mostly just scared tourists, but at least one group of punters were impressed enough to buy tickets! I think we might be expanding our on-street musical marketing beyond the Royal Mile.

Q2: The Fringe is horribly expensive. How are you financing this run? Did you remortgage your house, sell your granny, or start an illicit side hustle?

If you know what ‘matched betting’ is, you’ll know how I tried to finance my Fringe run. If you’ve tried it before, you’ll also know how far away I was from how much money was actually needed.

Q3: All shows will have their tough days. What sophisticated self-care strategies will you employ to survive?

Our flat will have ‘Challenge’ on our TV at all times someone is present. Can’t explain it but Pointless, The Chase, Catchphrase and Lingo are genuine therapy for us.

Q4: If all the shows running right now were at a massive Fringe house party, what is your show doing?

We would be awkwardly chatting amongst ourselves in the kitchen out of social embarrassment until our musician, the amazing Geddes, finds a piano and then we just start making up songs. This isn’t a million miles away from what happened at my wedding…

  • A Fringe Quickie (#430) with ‘My Screaming Pomegranates’

Questions answered by My Screaming Pomegranates.

Q1: Aside from this Quickie, what is the most desperate marketing tactic you plan on using to get bums in seats this August? 280 chars

Cosplay Hades and roam Edinburgh Fringe streets handing out pomegranates to passersby. If you’d rather not watch the poor Underworld king stuck roadside peddling fruit, click our ticket link: https://www.edfringe.com/tickets/whats-on/my-screaming-pomegranates. I am desperate.

Q2: If your show walked into a cocktail bar, what would it order?

Bloody Zeus – our signature pomegranate special.

Q3: If all the shows running right now were at a massive Fringe house party, what is your show doing?

Our show is the unhinged, furious backyard party guest spilling Olympus’ buried ugly secrets no one dares voice. We pull the crowd into wild, freeing circle dances to craft our own self-made moon.

Q4: How will the audience remember you the morning after?

They’ll wake up haunted by screaming pomegranates and Olympus’ unspoken patriarchal cruelty. They’ll replay Persephone’s raw grief over Minthe and her bitter rift with cold, violent Artemis, still feeling the cathartic rush of our collective moon-making dance.

  • A Fringe Quickie (#429) with ‘Crocodile Rock’

    Questions answered by Andy McGregor.

Q1: Aside from this Quickie, what is the most desperate marketing tactic you plan on using to get bums in seats this August? 280 chars

Holding the Millport ferry hostage. We’ll trap tourists on board, force them into sequined platform boots, and refuse to dock back at Largs until they’ve bought a full-price ticket and flawlessly belted out a 90s power ballad.

Q2: If your show walked into a cocktail bar, what would it order?

A Bacardi Breezer, no questions please.

Q3: If your show suddenly developed a massive ego and became the biggest diva in the 2026 Fringe, what absurd, hyper-specific item would be mandatory on its dressing room rider?

Exactly 97 grains of sand chipped from the actual Crocodile Rock in Millport, arranged in the shape of H from Steps head, plus a chilled bottle of vintage 1997 Aftershock served exclusively inside a size 10 stiletto.

Q4: If all the shows running right now were at a massive Fringe house party, what is your show doing?

We’re the one in the kitchen at 2am, covered in glitter, aggressively teaching the brooding experimental theatre shows how to properly lip-sync to 90s club anthems. We brought the Aperol Spritz, the feather boas, and the best gossip.

  • A Fringe Quickie (#428) with ‘B*TCH EAT DOG’

    Questions answered by Melissa Carter.

Q1: Aside from this Quickie, what is the most desperate marketing tactic you plan on using to get bums in seats this August? 280 chars

The show stars a satirical tradwife named Felicity Groundwater, a full-body burlap puppet with 10+ titties, who breastfeeds the audience. I plan on walking the streets of Edinburgh in this monstrosity, handing out choco chip cookies and asking “Do you want some milk with that?”

Q2: We all have weird pre-performance rituals. What is yours, and how confused would a normal person be if they walked in on you doing it?

Our musician, a puppeteer/clown who goes by Crazy Hard Stuff, introduced us to the call and response: “DO WHAT THE LITTLE GIRL IN TEXAS SAID, FUCK EM IN THE HEART”. So now before we go onstage we huddle, pound our chests and shout “FUCK EM IN THE HEART! FUCK EM IN THE HEART!”.

Q3: If your show suddenly developed a massive ego and became the biggest diva in the 2026 Fringe, what absurd, hyper-specific item would be mandatory on its dressing room rider?

In our show, a uterus throws eggs (real ones that have been filled with thickened water) at the audience. Draining them is a humbling process: poke a small hole in each and blow into it til the guts ooze out. If we developed an ego, our intern would be eating a lot of omelets.

Q4: If all the shows running right now were at a massive Fringe house party, what is your show doing?

I once hosted a party where the theme was ‘paint with your genitals.’ I imagine that this would be the theme of every party B*TCH EAT DOG attends.

    Questions answered by Steven Phillips-Horst.

Q1: Aside from this Quickie, what is the most desperate marketing tactic you plan on using to get bums in seats this August? 280 chars

If you come to my show, you can sleep in my childhood bedroom in Boston. I don’t know who lives there now but you can tell them I said it’s okay.

Q2: If your show walked into a cocktail bar, what would it order?

    A polluted seawater martini.

Q3: We all have weird pre-performance rituals. What is yours, and how confused would a normal person be if they walked in on you doing it?

I run my hands along every prop in the dressing room saying quietly “I’m gonna miss this.”

Q4: If your show suddenly developed a massive ego and became the biggest diva in the 2026 Fringe, what absurd, hyper-specific item would be mandatory on its dressing room rider?

    A polluted seawater martini.

  • A Fringe Quickie (#426) with ‘Cats: Young Actors Edition’

    Questions answered by Steph Pesce.

Q1: Aside from this Quickie, what is the most desperate marketing tactic you plan on using to get bums in seats this August? 280 chars

Our 18 young actors don skintight catsuits and interact with passersby by performing on the streets. They are visually stunning, audibly delightful, and….stinky in the heat in these carefully designed multi-layered costumes with a steampunk vibe. Look, listen, and don’t smell!

Q2: If your show walked into a cocktail bar, what would it order?

The 18 young actors would order a round of Shirley Temples rimmed with catnip, though Jennyanydots, with a chastising eye roll, would demand a non-alcoholic pina colada, because she’s fancy like that.

Q3: The Fringe is horribly expensive. How are you financing this run? Did you remortgage your house, sell your granny, or start an illicit side hustle?

The cats simply asked their parents for full funding. When that failed, they sold steampunk creations at festivals and solicited donations by dancing in the streets of Boston with the Tartan Army before the World Cup, melodically meowing “No Scotland, No Party!” for all to hear.

Q4: If you brought this show home for the holidays, how would your parents react to them?

My mother would sneeze, because she’s allergic to both cats and young children. My father would relegate them to the carpeted basement and supply scratching posts, because these method actors never break character. The meowing and hissing might eventually cause both to move out.

  • A Fringe Quickie (#425) with ‘SUCCUBUS’

    Questions answered by Georgina Collins.

Q1: Aside from this Quickie, what is the most desperate marketing tactic you plan on using to get bums in seats this August? 280 chars

If you see a woman handing out SUCCUBUS flyers with suspiciously bloody hands, don’t panic.

Q2: If your show walked into a cocktail bar, what would it order?

A Bloody Mary, obviously. Hold the Mary.

Q3: Cancel culture has finally come for your show. What sins has it committed?

Cannibalism, female rage, gluttony, lust. A nightmare blunt rotation.

Q4: If all the shows running right now were at a massive Fringe house party, what is your show doing?

Flirting outrageously with someone in the bathroom before eating them. Then spending the rest of the night wondering if it came on too strong.
