#FringeQuickies is The Quinntessential Review’s original bite-sized Q&A series with EdFringe performers — fast, funny, and scrollable in seconds. You’ll laugh, you’ll raise an eyebrow, and you might just find your next must-see show.

New Quickies drop daily from Monday, June 29th to Thursday, August 6th 2026, all in one big glorious doomscroll. With over 10% of this year’s Fringe taking part, it’s one of the biggest showcases of the festival.

You’ll also spot a few boosted Quickies along the way — from performers helping to keep this whole thing running. We love them. You should too.

Submission form for performers will remain open until Thursday, 23rd July, 2026: https://tally.so/r/vGdAx0

  • 6 – Stuart Laws Has To Be Joking?

How will the audience remember you the morning after?

If the audience don’t remember me the morning after then I’ve done my job. I neuralyse every audience member pre-show, post-show and just before they go to sleep. It’s called duty of care and I provide it. YOU DON’T WANT TO REMEMBER SOME OF THE STUFF IN MY SHOW.

What do you/your show do to make an audience’s heart beat faster?

Have you heard of live rats? Well time for livid live rats, and they’ve booked the entire front row and they hate it when audiences don’t laugh at the right points.

What brings a nice show like yours to a place like the Edinburgh Fringe?

Doing a fringe show gives me a chance to not be asked any questions and to not have to look anyone in the eye for an hour. It’s medically prescribed. I think my agent wants me to say something like “I’ve written such a fantastic show that I can’t wait for people to see it.”

  • 5 – To Watch a Man Eat

What do you/your show do to make an audience’s heart beat faster?

Handjobs, strangle-wanks and sloppy oral sex…? Oh, don’t look at us like that! We know you love it really. Sex sells, so that scathing class commentary can sneak its way in. With theatre ever-struggling, if you want to support young talent and experience the daring antics of GenZ, then look no further. Prize winning writer Sadie Pearson and her spunky co-director Hen Ryan never enter a stage quietly.

What brings a nice show like yours to a place like the Edinburgh Fringe?

We are not a ‘nice show’. Dark, dirty and a little bit twisted, To Watch a Man Eat will get your heart racing and your bumps goosing. We love all things foul: with food, frenzy and f*cking all finding place and the forefront of our story – a story concerned with desire. Battling against ‘corporate fringe’, the play’s candid conversation about living as a ‘cog in the machine’ could not be making its Fringe debut at a better time.

How will the audience remember you the morning after?

Like an experienced lover, we aim to titillate for as long as you’re with us, and leave you wanting more. Maybe you’ll be hot and bothered, watching scenes which leave little to the filthiest imagination. Or maybe you’ll resonate more with our scorching analysis of the world of work. Whatever it is, we’re sure to get you talking. An evening show, we are the perfect appetite-wetter. If anything, we guarantee electric dinner table discussions.

  • 4 – Ollie Horn: Comedy for Toxic People (and their friends)

If you/your show were a school subject what would you/it be and why?

    Sex education.

How will the audience remember you the morning after?

With the freshly squeezed orange juice and warm croissant I’ll be providing as I send them on their way.

What brings a nice show like yours to a place like the Edinburgh Fringe?

I need to find a wife and I think the way to do so is to be more toxic.

  • 3 – The Dreamer – Live

What do you/your show do to make an audience’s heart beat faster?

I spend a lot time trying to build atmosphere and excitement in the room, even before I come on – and once the curtain goes up, my job is blow away their expectations. This show particularly, more than any show I’ve ever put together, has pure moments of magic in it that take people’s breath away.

How do you keep your performances fresh every night?

Loving the audience – it’s their show not mine really. By being totally present in the room and reacting to what’s happening in that space (a space where nothing outside those 4 walls matters), means no two shows are ever the same.

What misconceptions do you think people have about you/your show – would you like to clear them up?

It’s very difficult to say you do a magic show and not have preconceived ideas. We’re a mixed bag, us magicians. But if I can have some people in the room a little skeptical, or taking a punt, or being dragged there by a partner – and leave them blown away with the heart filled with warmth, thats the best outcome I can hope for.

  • 2 – Doomscrolling

How will the audience remember you the morning after?

As the one that got away (orca mask version).

What misconceptions do you think people have about you/your show – would you like to clear them up?

That because I’ve been a journalist working in newsrooms for a lot of my life, this show is going to explain and then solve doomscrolling for them. Uh-uh. Your screentime is your own business. I’m here to make jokes, talk about my niece too much and drop subtle hints about why the climate crisis is bad.

What do you/your show do to make an audience’s heart beat faster?

In my show, I’ve got character comedy, I’ve got a small child swearing, I’ve got real-life headlines about the continuing orca assaults on billionaires’ yachts. Killer whales are socialist as well as matriarchial? Solidarity. Be still all our fast-beating hearts.

  • 1 – Girlhoood

How do you keep your performances fresh every night?

We keep our performances fresh by refrigerating our actors every night.

What brings a nice show like yours to a place like the Edinburgh Fringe?

There’s no place like the fringe, and after a month of theatre, comedy and drinking, a few people may benefit from thinking about whether they want a child in the future…

What coffee would you/your show be, and why?

We would be a large mocha, because we’ll energise you, we’re sweet and we’ll set you back about £10.
