The stage version of Inside No. 9 is heading out on a major UK tour this autumn, with full casting now confirmed.

Steve Pemberton and Reece Shearsmith will reprise their roles in Inside No. 9 Stage/Fright, joined by the original West End cast for a 13-week run across the country. The tour begins on 5 September and will run until 6 December, with a stop at the Edinburgh Playhouse from 25–29 November.

Familiar faces return

Alongside Pemberton and Shearsmith, the cast includes Rebecca Bainbridge, Mark Extance, Gaby French, Miranda Hennessy, Bhav Joshi and Toby Manley. Sarah Moyle and Sophie Suddaby complete the line‑up for the touring production.

Directed by David Frias‑Robles, with design by Grace Smart and lighting by Neil Austin, Stage/Fright brings together the original creative team from the West End production. The show combines comedy, drama and horror, in keeping with the anthology style of the award‑winning BBC series.

Nominated for an Olivier Award earlier this year in the Best New Entertainment or Comedy Play category, the production blends familiar characters and storylines from the television series with brand new material created for the stage.

Critical acclaim

The West End run of Stage/Fright earned strong reviews. The Mail on Sunday called it “absurdly entertaining” and awarded it five stars. The Radio Times praised it as “a thrilling ride that shouldn’t be missed,” while the Financial Times described it as “madly innovative.”

The Sunday Times review was equally enthusiastic, calling it “dazzlingly entertaining,” and the Independent noted: “This is one play you won’t be checking your watch in.”

A new chapter after nine series

The ninth and final season of Inside No. 9 aired last year to critical acclaim and is now available on BBC iPlayer. Across its decade on screen, the BAFTA‑winning anthology built a reputation for inventive storytelling that blends dark comedy with unexpected twists.

With Stage/Fright, Pemberton and Shearsmith bring that spirit into the theatre, promising audiences the same mix of the comedic, the spooky and the dramatic that defined the television series.
