Forget trawling through 4,000 listings. We asked Edinburgh Fringe performers the weirdest, cheekiest questions we could think of โ and hundreds answered. Now, the best of those bite-sized “Fringe Quickies” have emerged victorious โ claiming glory, bragging rights, and absolutely no actual prize.
#FringeQuickies is The Quinntessential Review’s bite-sized Edinburgh Fringe Q&A series โ four quick-fire questions, each answered in under 280 characters. Itโs fast, funny, and often a little revealing, giving you a glimpse of the show (and the performer) you wonโt get from the programme blurb.
This year, Fringe Quickies featured 394 performers/shows โ well over 10% of the entire Fringe programme, making it the biggest, easiest-to-digest collection of show snippets youโll find anywhere. A handful also went โboostedโ, helping us take the time off paid work in August to focus on the Fringe. So, before we crown our “winners”, letโs give a little spotlight to the performers who gave us our boost.
Boosted Fringe Quickies
Now, onto the main event: our Fringe Quickies “winners”. One goes to our personal favourite, the other to your favourite (most viewed). The grand prize? Absolutely nothingโฆ apart from those bragging rights for the rest of the Fringe.
Our favourite
We wanted someone who fits the Fringe Quickies vibe. Someone who takes it somewhere uniquely theirs, and totally owns it. We found our winner. Step forward, Fringe Quickie #319, La Cliqueโs Tara Boom โ sheโs bringing breakfast, lube, and standing Oโs, all before midday. Their Fringe Quickie is as wild as the show itself โ from banana juggling to a magic striptease. Read more about La Cliqueโs five-star grown-up entertainment in our full review.
Your favourite
This oneโs simple: the Quickie that drew the most direct clicks (outside of our colossal doomscroll). We even adjusted for how long each had been live โ no unfair advantage for early birds.
And without further ado, your audience favourite isโฆ Fringe Quickie #394, An Adequate Abridgement of Boarding School Life as a Homo from Choir Boy Productions. The last Quickie we published this year, they almost missed the deadline entirely โ proof that โlastโ can still hit it, baby, one more time.
Their answers serve up Britney devotion, pink socks in peril, and a sex scene your gran would definitely have an opinion on. Weโre not reviewing this Bobby Awardโwinning comedy until the end of the Fringe, so for now, youโll have to get your fix from their Quickie (and then go see the show for yourselves!).
Almost your favourites
Choir Boy Productionsโ Quickie was your clear favourite, pulling in almost double the clicks of any other. But two others drew so much attention that we had to show them a little love:
Gabrielle Leonore is โhotisticโ and shaking things up in her Fringe Quickie #278, My Life as an Inspirational Porn Star.
Jade Franks is serving up hype tracks and posh-boy confessions in Fringe Quickie #235, Eat The Rich (but maybe not me mates x). (Weโre reviewing this one soon, so check back)
Thank you to everyone who submitted โ we genuinely couldnโt do it without you. And to our boosted supporters, who give us the breathing room in August to focus on reviewing all the wonderful shows out there, weโre especially grateful. Keep the love going โ discover all 394 Quickies in the #FringeQuickies doomscroll.
