Today’s charismatic trio of Fringe trailblazers are Mary Queen of Scots revivifier Marjolein Robertson, avant-garde Australian Fringe debutant show Oat Milk & Honey, and unique user of raw steak, ELOINA!
#SNAPCHATZ is simple. I challenge all 2023 Fringe performers & creators to answer 3 questions and to sell you, dear reader, their show. Their answers are tossed into a digital hat, and published in quick-read trios. It’s a Fringe goer’s fastest and safest (no guerilla flyering!) way to find someone, or something, new.

Me, Myself and Mary (Queen of Scots)
Who are you/what is your show?
I’m Marjolein, a comedian and storyteller from Shetland, and will be performing this one-woman play, written by Ramond Friel, and directed by Jordanna O’Neill. It is a retelling of the life of Mary Queen of Scots, but from the point of view of the protagonist, and modern day mirror of the Queen of Scots, Mary. It is funny, informative, but above all funny.
What sets your show apart from the rest?
This play retells the life story of Mary Queen of Scots from birth to beheading through one narrator who daringly takes on every role of every pivotal character in Mary’s life… well, she takes on the roles with a comedic approach, bringing vividly to a modern life, character from the past who shaped our very world.
Your dream audience turns up to see the show, who’s watching?
My dream audience are those who are up for a laugh, but also, ready to learn, to be honest they don’t even need to be ready to learn. The history is weaved in through funny monologues and colourful characters that you will walk away knowing all about Mary Queen of Scots without ever feeling like you were being taught.
Oat Milk & Honey
Who are you/what is your show?

What sets your show apart from the rest?

Oat Milk & Honey utilises the elite skill from two of Australia’s leading performers to facilitate a uniquely safe space to soothe anxiety and encourage urgent societal momentum surrounding mental health conversation.
Your dream audience turns up to see the show, who’s watching?
Oat Milk & Honey’s dream audience is a sold out crowd filled with thrill seeking individuals who enjoy elite acrobatics and live music, and are in need of a breath of fresh air. Oat Milk & Honey whole heartedly welcomes anyone who has ever been impacted by anxiety.
High Steaks
Who are you/what is your show?
I’m ELOINA & my show is called HIGH STEAKS.
What sets your show apart from the rest?
I hang two beef steaks from my labia, butcher them up, cook & serve them up. And my mum is in the show….It’s also been nominated for an OFFIE & won the Summerhall award!
Your dream audience turns up to see the show, who’s watching?
It’s all of my vulva-owning ancestors! All that have labia! All that are ghosts! All that I’ve never met! All just chilling in a room with our labia out chatting about our experiences. Learning how each of us has passed down shame & joy in our bodies from one to another. Because that’s what the show is. It’s about how we teach & learn shame & how we can break the chain. That’s why my mum’s in it. And even though they’re not alive, my grandma (also called Eloina) is in it too, and her mama, and her mama. I actually try on each of their labia in the show…
But to be clear, this is not just a show for vulva-owners or people who are/have mothers. It is a show about vulva variation celebration. A show about how we teach ourselves and others to love bodies, as they are; functional, grotesque, wonderful things, without sexualisation.
