#FringeQuickies is The Quinntessential Review’s original bite-sized Q&A series with EdFringe performers — fast, funny, and scrollable in seconds. You’ll laugh, you’ll raise an eyebrow, and you might just find your next must-see show.

New Quickies drop daily from Monday, June 29th to Thursday, August 6th 2026, all in one big glorious doomscroll. With over 10% of this year’s Fringe taking part, it’s one of the biggest showcases of the festival.

You’ll also spot a few boosted Quickies along the way — from performers helping to keep this whole thing running. We love them. You should too.

Submission form for performers will remain open until Thursday, 23rd July, 2026: https://tally.so/r/vGdAx0

  • A Fringe Quickie (#414) with ‘Tom Little in His Comfort Zone’

    Questions answered by Tom Little.

Q1: Aside from this Quickie, what is the most desperate marketing tactic you plan on using to get bums in seats this August? 280 chars

Nothing. I’m not trying to market this show at all. My dream is to perform the whole hour to one confused tourist who doesn’t speak English. Every time more than one person turns up I’m annoyed.

Q2: Cancel culture has finally come for your show. What sins has it committed?

Every performance does feature me kicking a penguin to death. Audiences find it distressing and sourcing the penguins is a nightmare. But my artistic vision will not be compromised.

Q3: If all the shows running right now were at a massive Fringe house party, what is your show doing?

My show would be stood in a corner, not talking to anyone, wondering how much longer it has to stay before it can go home. My show’s a moody prick, I’ve got to be honest. Though I myself am nothing like that.

Q4: How will the audience remember you the morning after?

I can’t claim to be the most funny, most famous, most interesting or even the most punctual performer at the Edinburgh Fringe. But I am the most handsome. That’s a fact. Everyone will remember my handsomeness.

  • A Fringe Quickie (#413) with ‘Dystopia 26: The Rock Opera’

    Questions answered by Justin Skelton.

Q1: Aside from this Quickie, what is the most desperate marketing tactic you plan on using to get bums in seats this August? 280 chars

Aside from this Quickie, we’ve been handing out Moonbonds, conquering Westminster in the famous Blame Mobile and convincing people that we have simultaneously solved the money problem and the happiness problem. Which, of course, we have.

Q2: Cancel culture has finally come for your show. What sins has it committed?

Inciting dangerous levels of subversive, independent thought. Smuggling optimism across ideological borders. Possession of satire with intent to provoke. And one count of suggesting happiness might be an inside job.

Q3: The Fringe is horribly expensive. How are you financing this run? Did you remortgage your house, sell your granny, or start an illicit side hustle?

We monetised one of the world’s most reliable market indicators: Trump’s contradictory statements and behaviour. During the Iran crisis, we day-traded based on his predictable unpredictability. The profits disappeared immediately… into this show.

Q4: How will the audience remember you the morning after?

They’ll remember laughing at things that used to worry them, voting for ‘the best of a bad bunch’, humming songs they can’t quite shake, wondering about happiness, money and satire, and some of them will cry.

  • A Fringe Quickie (#412) with ‘Lt Love Dr’s Boot Camp for Lonely People Like You’

    Questions answered by Chloe Matonis.

Q1: Aside from this Quickie, what is the most desperate marketing tactic you plan on using to get bums in seats this August? 280 chars

I will put on a protest on the sidewalk and collect signatures for the Grassroots Movement to Save Human Connection!

Q2: If your show walked into a cocktail bar, what would it order?

Sex on the Beach, hold the beach.

Q3: Cancel culture has finally come for your show. What sins has it committed?

I force people to get off their phones and make eye contact with each other. So, if you’re a pansyass who’s scared to meet REAL PEOPLE, then this show is not your safe space.

Q4: We all have weird pre-performance rituals. What is yours, and how confused would a normal person be if they walked in on you doing it?

I blast ‘I’m Gonna Be (500 Miles)’ by the Proclaimers and jump around my bedroom like a maniac til I get sweaty, then I take an ice cold shower, put my clothes on, and run out the door.

  • A Fringe Quickie (#411) with ‘DECKHAND’

    Questions answered by Grace Guy.

Q1: Aside from this Quickie, what is the most desperate marketing tactic you plan on using to get bums in seats this August? 280 chars

I plan on really milking the fact that most people hate their bosses! I’ll stop folks on the street to ask about their worst workplace experiences, then post those clips on social media, hoping our shared misery brings in a few more audience members.

Q2: If your show walked into a cocktail bar, what would it order?

One Dark ’n’ Stormy, if you please! DECKHAND is a workplace shipwreck between an agent and an assistant, so naturally it would order something strong, rummy, and nautical. Consider it the official cocktail of professional burnout.

Q3: If all the shows running right now were at a massive Fringe house party, what is your show doing?

DECKHAND is on the phone with their boss. They swear they’ll be right out of the loo and back to the party in just a minute. They just have to send one more quick email. Their boss says it’s urgent. (It’s absolutely not.) So sorry!!!

Q4: How will the audience remember you the morning after?

The audience may leave with a strong urge to sever ties with their toxic boss. Side effects include: extreme freedom, happiness, and a jolly memory of a nautical disaster you hope never happens to you.

    Questions answered by Ben Berman.

Q1: Aside from this Quickie, what is the most desperate marketing tactic you plan on using to get bums in seats this August? 280 chars

Flyering and word of mouth (or I’ll bite you with my fangs)

Q2: If your show walked into a cocktail bar, what would it order?

    Blooood

Q3: Cancel culture has finally come for your show. What sins has it committed?

Gay thoughts, gay sex, for more info, go to the church!

Q4: If you brought this show home for the holidays, how would your parents react to them?

Bibles and pitchforks and an exorcism!

    About the show

  • A Fringe Quickie (#409) with ‘The Problem with Kate Winslet’s Dress’

    Questions answered by Switch Theatre.

Q1: Aside from this Quickie, what is the most desperate marketing tactic you plan on using to get bums in seats this August? 280 chars

We will have a member of our team, dressed in Kate Winslet’s Dress from the movie! (well not the actual movie) out making as many Titanic related puns as possible to get people in to see our show.

Q2: If your show walked into a cocktail bar, what would it order?

Dark and stormy… but hold the ice….. triggered

Q3: If your show suddenly developed a massive ego and became the biggest diva in the 2026 Fringe, what absurd, hyper-specific item would be mandatory on its dressing room rider?

A permanent hair and make up team, a wardrobe filled with red carpet ready dresses, we simply must be ready for our close up at all times!

Q4: If you brought this show home for the holidays, how would your parents react to them?

Well mines dead. So the pressure is off.

  • A Fringe Quickie (#408) with ‘Reparations’

    Questions answered by Maryam Garad.

Q1: Aside from this Quickie, what is the most desperate marketing tactic you plan on using to get bums in seats this August? 280 chars

My show is about a shoplifter who steals another woman’s life, so keeping with the theme, my protagonist would probably tell me to steal another show’s audience. I’ll be keeping it legal and sticking to shameless flyering outside their venue instead.

Q2: Cancel culture has finally come for your show. What sins has it committed?

Fraud. Theft. Deception. The themes alone could get me cancelled. REPARATIONS traps audiences inside Aisha’s logic, making every bad decision feel justified until you question yourself!

Q3: We all have weird pre-performance rituals. What is yours, and how confused would a normal person be if they walked in on you doing it?

I tap every single seat in the theatre before a performance. It’s partly to thank the audience before they’ve even arrived, partly to connect with the space, and partly because I’ve convinced myself it’s the reason I don’t panic on stage.

Q4: How will the audience remember you the morning after?

I hope they wake up questioning what they’d be willing to do to change their life. Not necessarily following Aisha’s example, but asking themselves where the line is between reinvention and losing yourself.

  • A Fringe Quickie (#407) with ‘Target Audience’

    Questions answered by Dan Bishop.

Q1: Aside from this Quickie, what is the most desperate marketing tactic you plan on using to get bums in seats this August? 280 chars

I’ve bought a fleet of self-automated long-range drones to drop our flyers on people’s heads.

Q2: If your show suddenly developed a massive ego and became the biggest diva in the 2026 Fringe, what absurd, hyper-specific item would be mandatory on its dressing room rider?

A mini fridge full to the brim with ginger shots.

Q3: If all the shows running right now were at a massive Fringe house party, what is your show doing?

Cornering someone at 3am and speaking at them about the rise of AI drone warfare.

Q4: How will the audience remember you the morning after?

They will be struck by such a profound nihilism that they will seek out pleasure, pure-pleasure, for the rest of their days.

  • A Fringe Quickie (#406) with ‘Tale of the Firebird – Concerto for Violin, Fire & Acrobatic Orchestra’

Questions answered by Sonja Schebeck & Chanda VanderHart.

Q1: Aside from this Quickie, what is the most desperate marketing tactic you plan on using to get bums in seats this August? 280 chars

We’ll be getting into all sorts of positions with our instruments on the streets of Edinburgh – not what you’re thinking… or is it?

Q2: If your show walked into a cocktail bar, what would it order?

Honestly, it’d probably order off menu… but while waiting, a Bottom Shelf Symphony which would definitely be on fire – ‘cos we’re classy(cal) like that.

Q3: All shows will have their tough days. What sophisticated self-care strategies will you employ to survive?

Being Aussie and honorary Aussie in our souls, we’ve obviously packed a family-size tub of Vegemite for each week. It’s the Windex of Australia.

Q4: We all have weird pre-performance rituals. What is yours, and how confused would a normal person be if they walked in on you doing it?

Remember those positions we mentioned? They all require warming up.

  • A Fringe Quickie (#405) with ‘Spin Cycle: The Lesbian Launderette Play’

    Questions answered by Zofia Zerphy.

Q1: Aside from this Quickie, what is the most desperate marketing tactic you plan on using to get bums in seats this August? 280 chars

I will personally call out anyone who doesn’t book tickets to our show as homophobic.

Q2: Cancel culture has finally come for your show. What sins has it committed?

“Spin Cycle” would get canceled for exposing how messy lesbian relationships are- why do you think we do so much laundry?

Q3: If you brought this show home for the holidays, how would your parents react to them?

Well, before I brought it home I’d probably ask my mom a similar question as I did the first time I brought my girlfriend home. I said, “Mom, what do you think will bother grandpa the most; the fact she’s Irish, Gay, or a Catholic.” And she said “Yes”.

Q4: How will the audience remember you the morning after?

The morning after will be like any good lesbian date- we’ll still be on your mind and you’ll be desperately trying to plan the next time you will see us again. But you just can’t lock us down, baby. All the gays want to us, and we just can’t say no.
