The Off West End Awards—known as the Offies—are getting a global stage this year. On 17 March, Theatre Channel, a fresh streaming hub for theatre, will broadcast live from London’s Central Hall Westminster, bringing the red carpet and winners’ room straight to screens worldwide.
It’s a first for the Offies, now in their 15th year, and a chance for fans to catch the buzz of independent theatre’s big night, hosted by drag star Divina De Campo. With performances from Mischief Theatre, London Gay Men’s Chorus, and Tony Award-winner Frances Ruffelle lined up, the night’s set to sparkle—and Theatre Channel’s making sure no one misses it.
A Spotlight on Indie Theatre
The Offies celebrate the grit and genius of Off West End and Fringe theatre, a proving ground for hits like Fleabag, Baby Reindeer, and Operation Mincemeat. This year, Theatre Channel’s stepping in as sponsor and media partner, streaming two live segments: the Red Carpet Livestream at 5:30pm and the Winners’ Room show just after 7:00pm. Expect backstage chats, red-carpet interviews, and raw reactions from winners fresh off the stage.
Hosting the coverage is Tobias Turley, who nabbed ITV’s Mamma Mia! I Have A Dream crown and stars in the new musical White Rose. “With his insider perspective, Turley’s energy and insight will bring theatre lovers closer to the magic of Off West End theatre’s biggest night,” the Theatre Channel promises. Why It’s a Game-Changer
Theatre Channel’s Co-Founder Chris Wheeler sees it as a lifeline for grassroots talent. “Independent theatre is where some of the most exciting, risk-taking work happens, and The Theatre Channel is proud to be shining a spotlight on these incredible artists,” he said. “Through our broadcast, we are making sure that Off West End and Fringe Theatre is celebrated and accessible to a global audience, proving that great theatre doesn’t just start in the West End or on Broadway—it starts here!”

The Offies’ Legacy
Since 2010, the Offies have been a megaphone for London’s indie theatre scene, run by OffWestEnd to give it a unified voice—think Off-Broadway, but with a British twist. Past winners have gone stratospheric, proving this isn’t just a local gig. The 2025 bash, produced by Green Room Ents, lands at Westminster Hall—a grand old spot that’s hosted everything from UN speeches to Stand Up To Cancer. This time, it’s all about the little guys who dream big.
Denholm Spurr, the Offies’ Managing Director, echoed that vibe. “I am delighted to have Theatre Channel on board as our official streaming partners this year,” he said. “Our sector is so often undiscovered and unseen and the Offies put showcasing that unexplored work centre-stage—being able to live stream parts of the ceremony for the first time is a brilliant step towards giving independent creatives the spotlight they deserve.”

For Spurr, it’s personal: “British theatre depends on the grassroots and I can’t wait to show everyone just how brilliant it is!”
What’s in Store
The 17 March event promises a packed night. Divina De Campo, a drag icon, hosts, with Mischief Theatre (The Play That Goes Wrong), the London Gay Men’s Chorus, and Frances Ruffelle (Les Misérables) performing. It’s a mix of chaos, heart, and pure talent—classic Off West End. The live streams add a layer, letting anyone with a screen join the party, no plane ticket needed.
Theatre Channel’s coverage keeps that spirit front and centre. No glitzy paywall here—just a straight shot to the action, from Turley’s red-carpet banter to winners spilling their guts post-win. It’s raw, real, and right on time for a sector that’s often cash-strapped but never short on guts.
Spurr’s chuffed about the reach. Wheeler’s betting on a global cheer squad. And for theatre nuts, it’s a rare peek at the indie scene’s beating heart—live, unfiltered, and free to watch.
