Danny Robins, the UK’s leading investigator of real-life hauntings and supernatural phenomena, is taking his hit BBC podcast Uncanny back on the road with a brand-new live show, Uncanny: Fear of the Dark.

The tour, which runs from September 2025 to March 2026, will stop in cities across the UK, including a highly anticipated date at Edinburgh’s Festival Theatre on 10 November 2025.

A Hit Returns

This latest stage production follows the enormous success of Uncanny: I Know What I Saw, one of the most popular live podcast shows in recent history. That tour attracted over 52,000 attendees across 76 performances, many of whom were first-time theatregoers. With Robins’ signature blend of investigative journalism, storytelling, and audience participation, Fear of the Dark aims to be an equally electrifying night out for sceptics and believers alike.

The Show: A Live Paranormal Investigation

Unlike a typical podcast recording, Uncanny: Fear of the Dark is designed as a fully immersive theatrical experience. Combining eerie sound design, haunting video projections, and dramatic storytelling, Robins will present new accounts of unexplained encounters—ranging from ghost sightings to UFO experiences—while inviting the audience to weigh in on the mysteries.

Psychologist Dr Ciarán O’Keeffe and parapsychologist Evelyn Hollow, both regular contributors to Uncanny, will join Robins on stage to analyse these chilling tales. Audience members will also have the opportunity to ask questions, propose theories, and share their own potentially supernatural experiences, making each night a unique and interactive event.

“Taking Uncanny on the road and meeting thousands of fans over the last two years has been thrilling for me, so it’s great to be hitting the road again. If you love ghost stories and want to try and make sense of these strange mysteries, we can promise you a fun, thought-provoking, scare-filled night out.”

Edinburgh and the UK Tour

Scotland has long been a hotbed of paranormal lore, and Edinburgh in particular boasts a reputation as one of the most haunted cities in the world. From the underground vaults to the tales of Greyfriars Kirkyard, the city certainly provides an apt backdrop for Robins’ deep dive into the unexplained.

Beyond Edinburgh, Uncanny: Fear of the Dark will visit a range of theatres across the UK, including London, Manchester, Glasgow, Cardiff, and Birmingham. The show’s reach extends beyond its live audiences, as Uncanny continues to dominate as one of the most-listened-to podcasts in the UK and a major BBC Sounds success. Its TV adaptation has also proven hugely popular, with the first episode drawing over 2.1 million viewers, making it one of BBC Two’s most-watched factual programmes in 2023.

The Rise of Live Podcast Theatre

Tilted, the production company behind Uncanny: Fear of the Dark, has been at the forefront of transforming podcasts into compelling stage shows. Sam Hodges, the director, has spoken about the unique appeal of this format:

“With live podcast shows on the rise, what makes Tilted’s approach unique is creating shows that are inherently theatrical, playful and interactive, and, with the help of a brilliant design team, the extraordinary stories that Uncanny features offer a unique opportunity to do just that”

Tilted has previously produced other podcast-to-stage adaptations, including Brown Girls Do It Too and Something Rhymes with Purple, proving that there’s an appetite for this hybrid form of storytelling.

More Than Just a Show

Uncanny is more than a podcast or a stage event—it’s a genuine cultural phenomenon. Robins’ book Into the Uncanny has been a bestseller, and the podcast’s growing fanbase (including me since episode 1!) has led to the launch of UncannyCon, an annual convention dedicated to supernatural investigations and discussions. The most recent event at the Royal Festival Hall in December 2024 sold out, demonstrating the deep engagement of Uncanny’s audience.

Tickets for Uncanny: Fear of the Dark are available now at www.uncannylive.com. Whether you’re a die-hard believer or a staunch sceptic, Robins invites you to step into the shadows and confront the mysteries that refuse to be explained. The only question is: are you afraid of the dark?
