#SNAPCHATZ is simple. I challenge all 2023 Fringe performers & creators to answer 3 questions and to sell you, dear reader, their show. Their answers are tossed into a digital hat, and published in quick-read trios. It’s a Fringe goer’s fastest and safest (no guerilla flyering!) way to find someone, or something, new.

Benjamin Alborough: Absolute Monopoly
Who are you/what is your show?
I’m Benjamin Alborough and my show is called Absolute Monopoly; it’s a chaotic interactive game show where the audience are the contestants, the game pieces and the game board. I oversee it with what has been described as a “threatening aura” but that’s just because people don’t do exactly what I tell them at all times.
What sets your show apart from the rest?
As far as I’m aware, no-one else called Benjamin Alborough is doing a show where they attempt to remake Monopoly within an hour. But I’d also gamble that few other shows utilise milk as dramatically as this one does. The show combines role playing, physical challenges and psychological intimidation to make something that, if not the best board game in the world, is at least shorter than a regular game of Monopoly.
Your dream audience turns up to see the show, who’s watching?
My dream audience would consist of the head of every Royal house of Europe. Replicating the political conditions of the start of WW1 tessellates very nicely with a regular game of Monopoly.
Bubble Show for Adults Only 2
Who are you/what is your show?
We are Bubble Laboratory, a five star reviewed, award nominated theatre with multiple international tours under our belt!
Bubble Show for Adults Only 2 is exactly what you think it is! You’ll see beautiful bubbles, naughty bubbles, phallic bubbles, bubbles as pasties, smoke bubbles, and swirling torrents of bubbles that do things you’ve never dreamed of.
What sets your show apart from the rest?
This is the only adult bubble show in the world!
Your dream audience turns up to see the show, who’s watching?
They would sit in perfect harmony on their chairs, expertly inhaling and exhaling humid breath in time to the performer’s bubble tricks and they would applaud for many minutes, despite performers begging them to stop as they would get in trouble with management for getting out of the venue late because of the endless applause; which by the way it did happen.
The (Hong) Kong Girls
Who are you/what is your show?
It is a mixed-bill performance by three female choreographers from Hong Kong – PK Wong, Alice Ma and Justyne Li. They use totally different approaches to tell their own stories and to show their ‘Kong Girl’ identity with multi-perspectives, where ‘Kong Girl’ was originally a negative label for women in Hong Kong, and it has evolved through political and social changes to take on new meanings.
What sets your show apart from the rest?
A horrifyingly ferocious triple-bill of politically infused, cutting edge contemporary movement.
Your dream audience turns up to see the show, who’s watching?
The first is haters and then the extremely conservative political and / or religious leaders in Hong Kong. Keeping them inside the venue and provoking or even challenging them through our work for an hour should be something. It might open up a door for real exchange and communication or simply just hate us more.
