#FringeQuickies is The Quinntessential Review’s original bite-sized Q&A series with EdFringe performers — fast, funny, and scrollable in seconds. You’ll laugh, you’ll raise an eyebrow, and you might just find your next must-see show.

New Quickies drop daily from Monday, June 29th to Thursday, August 6th 2026, all in one big glorious doomscroll. With over 10% of this year’s Fringe taking part, it’s one of the biggest showcases of the festival.

You’ll also spot a few boosted Quickies along the way — from performers helping to keep this whole thing running. We love them. You should too.

Submission form for performers will remain open until Thursday, 23rd July, 2026: https://tally.so/r/vGdAx0

  • A Fringe Quickie (#503) with ‘THE LIBRARIANS: A Very Serious Comedy!’

Questions answered by Jack Michael Stacey and Matthew Howell.

Q1: Aside from this Quickie, what is the most desperate marketing tactic you plan on using to get bums in seats this August? 280 chars

Jack: We plan to install a mini Library in the Courtyard. A book exchange for those looking to kill time with some reading before/after our show. Matt: The only “books” available will be copies of our previous hit show SPY MOVIE: THE PLAY! They will cost £10, no refunds.

Q2: If your show walked into a cocktail bar, what would it order?

Jack: A cup of tea. Milk, no sugar. And a custard cream. Matt : Sadly there are no cocktail bars in Plumbstanton. Only a pub where the landlord might be persuaded to make you a vodka lime and soda.

Q3: Cancel culture has finally come for your show. What sins has it committed?

Whatever the latest fashionable whim of cancellation the public zeitgeist has decided to take offence to that week…. We have a lot of biscuit related content in our show. Can you be cancelled for dunking a hobnob for too long? Probably.

Q4: All shows will have their tough days. What sophisticated self-care strategies will you employ to survive?

Jack: Reading. I’ve got two books on me at all times: So, You Want To Be A Theatre Producer? And Meditation For Dummies. Matt: It’s not sophisticated, however I will employ the classic fringe self-care routine of drinking alcohol on most days.

  • A Fringe Quickie (#502) with ‘REDACTED: The Cover-up of a Cover-up of a Cover-up’

    Questions answered by Olivia Zerphy.

Q1: Aside from this Quickie, what is the most desperate marketing tactic you plan on using to get bums in seats this August? 280 chars

Perform two shows every day so that they market each other. (We’ve also got The Man Who Thought He Knew Too Much on every day at 10:40am in Pleasance Forth).

Q2: Cancel culture has finally come for your show. What sins has it committed?

The purposeful spreading of misinformation, and maybe a bit of one-sided monogamy.

Q3: We all have weird pre-performance rituals. What is yours, and how confused would a normal person be if they walked in on you doing it?

We used to slap each other. Now we’ve matured and we chug hot shots.

Q4: How will the audience remember you the morning after?

Like a thrilling first date with someone hilarious, charming and impossible to fully figure out. You’re not quite sure whether they told you the whole truth, but you’re definitely hoping they’ll text the next morning.

  • A Fringe Quickie (#501) with ‘A&E’

    Questions answered by Orla Wyatt.

Q1: Aside from this Quickie, what is the most desperate marketing tactic you plan on using to get bums in seats this August? 280 chars

In line with the content of our show, we will be leaving trace amounts of meth on every flyer we hand out in an attempt to forge a synaptical connection between our show and a general sense of undying euphoria*. *we won’t actually do this.

Q2: The Fringe is horribly expensive. How are you financing this run? Did you remortgage your house, sell your granny, or start an illicit side hustle?

A few members of the cast and crew have kindly offered their bodies to medical professionals for pharmaceutical and surgical experimentation. The NDA forbids us from disclosing further details.

Q3: If you brought this show home for the holidays, how would your parents react to them?

She’s quite… intense, isn’t she darling! Can you please get the defibrillator for your father?

Q4: If all the shows running right now were at a massive Fringe house party, what is your show doing?

She’d be chatting up all the posh boys, luring them in by laughing and twirling her hair at their non PC jokes, whilst seeing how many of their wallets she could nick without them noticing.

  • A Fringe Quickie (#500) with ‘Stillwell’

    Questions answered by Tom.

Q1: Aside from this Quickie, what is the most desperate marketing tactic you plan on using to get bums in seats this August? 280 chars

I’m going to be out in the streets running pop-up Blackjack tables. Lucky winners will get half-price ticket codes and everyone gets to walk away with at least one show-branded playing card. Maybe if you find some other people to make 21 with you’ll get something special…

Q2: If your show walked into a cocktail bar, what would it order?

It’d ask what it can get for free with the vouchers it printed out at the Minions-themed slot machine.

Q3: All shows will have their tough days. What sophisticated self-care strategies will you employ to survive?

Doing this show is like going on a 55-minute bender, so I’ll be relying on lots of electrolytes, sleep, and pretending I don’t know about the three casinos that are within 15 minutes walking distance from the theatre (8 minutes by bike, 5 by cab).

Q4: If you brought this show home for the holidays, how would your parents react to them?

Since they already had the privilege of living eight feet above this rollercoaster plot, the first time around, I think they’d be more prepared now. Probably with an accountant, a lawyer, and an exorcist.

  • A Fringe Quickie (#499) with ‘Doughboys’

    Questions answered by Darcy Thompson.

Q1: Aside from this Quickie, what is the most desperate marketing tactic you plan on using to get bums in seats this August? 280 chars

Our show is about five men and women in WWI. We’ll be dressing up as period-accurate soldiers, cast and crew alike, to take to the streets and DRAFT THE FRINGEGOERS to our cause. Flyers? No, ENLISTMENT FORMS!

Q2: All shows will have their tough days. What sophisticated self-care strategies will you employ to survive?

We wear full wool uniforms on stage for a fast-paced 60 minute farce with lots of slapstick in a theater with minimal AC. We may need access to cryo-therapy after every show. But we’ll settle for the nearest pina colada vendor.

Q3: If your show suddenly developed a massive ego and became the biggest diva in the 2026 Fringe, what absurd, hyper-specific item would be mandatory on its dressing room rider?

Recordings of 1910s British marching band music on vinyl playing non-stop. We wouldn’t even enter the dressing room if we couldn’t hear it through the door first.

Q4: If all the shows running right now were at a massive Fringe house party, what is your show doing?

We’d be the guy doing the “going-down-the-stairs” bit behind the couch. It’s clear we’ve rehearsed it way too much into a mirror at home.

Putting my worst self on display via song and dance

Q2: We all have weird pre-performance rituals. What is yours, and how confused would a normal person be if they walked in on you doing it?

I listen to playlist of millenial house party music. I hope someone would just start dancing with me if they caught me in this ritual!

Q3: If all the shows running right now were at a massive Fringe house party, what is your show doing?

    Making a snack plate

Q4: How will the audience remember you the morning after?

Hopefully they’ll want to either pick up an instrument, call their mom, or both!

    Questions answered by Ruth Canal.

Q1: Aside from this Quickie, what is the most desperate marketing tactic you plan on using to get bums in seats this August? 280 chars

Conversion therapy… or gluing my wig down. One of the two…

Q2: If your show suddenly developed a massive ego and became the biggest diva in the 2026 Fringe, what absurd, hyper-specific item would be mandatory on its dressing room rider?

Mussells plucked straight from the Forth of the Firth of the Fifth, dipped in chipotle mayonaise and chlorine.

Q3: If you brought this show home for the holidays, how would your parents react to them?

Your mum’s confused spiritually, your dad’s confused sexually. Nan loves it.

Q4: If all the shows running right now were at a massive Fringe house party, what is your show doing?

Mother, Maiden & Crone’ has raided the pantry, ate all the cream slices, shat the tights and is on next for Karaoke. Her song you ask… Lady Bump, Penny McLean!

    Questions answered by Harsh.

Q1: Aside from this Quickie, what is the most desperate marketing tactic you plan on using to get bums in seats this August? 280 chars

We just straight up told people it’s our wedding! We have a veil, the wedding march, some songs, a man talking for way to long, possibly some tears. So please RSVP to our wedding! +1s encouraged!

Q2: All shows will have their tough days. What sophisticated self-care strategies will you employ to survive?

Just straight up denial. What’s the best way for two type-A people to deal with failure? Pretend it never happened!

Q3: If all the shows running right now were at a massive Fringe house party, what is your show doing?

Either completely missing the signs that someone is hitting on them or creating a spreadsheet to optimise their time so that they can have the most fun

Q4: How will the audience remember you the morning after?

You will have Abi’s songs stuck in your head and get inspired to get an A in life.

  • A Fringe Quickie (#495) with ‘Amnesia’

    Questions answered by Kimberly Hart-Simpson.

Q1: Aside from this Quickie, what is the most desperate marketing tactic you plan on using to get bums in seats this August? 280 chars

Reaching out to the celebrities mentioned in my show asking to plug on their socials. Carol Vaudermann, Phil Mitchell, Charlotte Church, Joe Wicks, Jane Fonder, Katie Price and Kris Jenner check your inbox huns.

Q2: All shows will have their tough days. What sophisticated self-care strategies will you employ to survive?

Taking my ADHD medication and reminding myself it’s too expensive to come here and then cry. (Roughly £1k per tear). Face time my dog and ask her if she thinks I am doing ok. To which she won’t answer cus she’s already moved on.

Q3: We all have weird pre-performance rituals. What is yours, and how confused would a normal person be if they walked in on you doing it?

Looking at pictures of Cascada and thanking her vocal talent and services to some of ClubLands biggest bangers. I think any normal person walking in to a Cascada shrine would get it and light a Home Bargains scented candle for her shrine.

Q4: If all the shows running right now were at a massive Fringe house party, what is your show doing?

Forcing everyone to watch a dance routine I made up when I was 12 in my bedroom. If they don’t clap, scream ‘you will regret this Simon Cowell, this is not the last you will see of me’ and walk out.
