Peter Serafinowicz Takes His Live Face-Swap Tech on the Road

Peter Serafinowicz is heading on the road under his own name for the first time. The comic actor and impressionist has announced a 13-date UK run for February and March 2027, titled The Peter Serafinowicz Live Show. The central conceit is an ambitious technical gamble: live digital face manipulation projected directly onto his features on stage.

Promoters claim the production will rely on proprietary software built by Serafinowicz himself to generate real-time digital masks before the audience. The promised roll-call of targets includes Sir Paul McCartney, Elvis Presley, and Sir Michael Caine, alongside an appearance from his heavy-set, disaster-prone corporate pitchman Brian Butterfield. Serafinowicz proved his commercial pull as Butterfield in 2024, shifting over 20,000 tickets and packing the Hammersmith Apollo. This run, however, marks his first outing without a fictional persona to hide behind.

The tour coincides with the twentieth anniversary of The Peter Serafinowicz Show, which debuted on BBC Two in autumn 2007. Comedy writing trio the Dawson Bros., who have collaborated with him for two decades, are co-writing the stage material.

“We were always going to say ‘yes’ to writing with him on his pioneering live comedy show. But what sealed the deal was a phone call from Sir Michael Caine. And then Sir Paul McCartney. And then Brian Butterfield. Peter really does know everyone,” the Dawson Bros. said.

Serafinowicz has spent three decades straddling cult British comedy and Hollywood studio pictures. Early credits include Spaced and Look Around You, run parallel to vocal work as Darth Maul in Star Wars: Episode I and a supporting role in Guardians of the Galaxy. More recently, he appeared in Guy Ritchie’s television adaptation of The Gentlemen, fronted Netflix game show Million Dollar Secret, and secured the role of the poltergeist Peeves in HBO’s upcoming television retelling of Harry Potter.

Bringing real-time digital alterations to a stage setup is a high-wire act. Live software rigging leaves no cushion for frame drops or equipment latency, and theatre crowds are notoriously less forgiving of technical hitches than streaming audiences. Whether the tech can consistently withstand the rigours of 13 separate venues remains the real test of the production.
