Awkward Productions, known for their boundary-pushing theatre, have announced a world tour for their viral Fringe stage hits Gwyneth Goes Skiing and Diana: The Untold and Untrue Story.

The tour, running from January to April 2025, will take the productions across North America, Asia, Australia, New Zealand, Canada, and Europe.

Tour Details

The tour begins with Gwyneth Goes Skiing in Park City, Utah, from January 8-18, 2025, marking a return to the site of the real-life Gwyneth Paltrow ski trial. The show will also have premieres in New York’s Soho Playhouse (January 20-26) and Los Angeles’ The Elysian Theatre (January 30-February 2).

Following this, Diana: The Untold and Untrue Story will debut in multiple regions, including Thailand, Singapore, and cities across Australia, New Zealand, Canada, and Europe. UK RuPaul’s Drag Race alum Pixie Polite will provide pre-show entertainment for audiences in Asia, Australia, New Zealand, and Canada.

A Theatrical Experience

Founded by Linus Karp and Joseph Martin, Awkward Productions aims to blend absurd comedy with pop culture, audience interaction, and queer narratives. Their repertoire includes How to live a Jellicle life: life lessons from the 2019 hit movie musical ‘cats’.

Our plans for world domination and queering the globe are finally coming true. Such a slay house down boots mama moment. A wise woman (Beyoncé) once asked: ‘Who run the world?’, and now we know that the answer to that question is AwkwardProds.

Linus Karp & Joseph Martin

Gwyneth Goes Skiing stars Karp as Gwyneth Paltrow and Martin as her adversary, Dr. Terry Sanderson. The interactive show casts the audience as jurors in a trial rife with betrayal, optometry, and comedic absurdity.

The production boasts original music by Leland and appearances from Cat Cohen, Darren Criss, and drag icon Trixie Mattel. It will have a third season at London’s Pleasance Theatre in December 2024 before the tour.

theQR caught the show at the Edinburgh Fringe this year and thought it was an absolute hoot! Taking audience participation to another level, it’s a risky, joyous, and utterly bonkers adventure.

Diana: The Untold and Untrue Story

A sell-out success at the 2023 Edinburgh Fringe, Diana: The Untold and Untrue Story reimagines the late Princess Diana telling her story from heaven. Combining multimedia, audience participation, and humour, the show revisits Diana’s legacy through a queer lens.

Very foolishly, theQR did not catch Diana in 2023, but good friends of the site were raving about the show weeks after catching it the first of several times. It will surely gather legions of new fans as it debuts on the world stage.

The cast features Karp as Diana, Martin as Charles and Camilla, and multimedia appearances by Geri Allen, Zina Badran, and Broadway’s Jeanna De Waal.
