Tortilla, one of the UK’s leading fast-casual Mexican chains, has unveiled a new menu item that blends classic American flavours with its signature Mexican fare: the Cheeseburger Smash Burrito. This new addition, touted as the first of its kind in the UK, is part of Tortilla’s limited-time “Smash” range, which includes variations such as Smash Tres Tacos, Smash Quesadilla, and Smash Nachos Queso.

The Cheeseburger Smash Burrito features a seasoned beef blend reminiscent of a traditional cheeseburger, with toppings such as Mexican rice, Monterey Jack cheese, chipotle cheese sauce, and pico de gallo, wrapped in a burrito. This innovative offering coincides with the 100th anniversary of the cheeseburger, aligning with Tortilla’s California-inspired menu, which draws from the region’s rich culinary heritage.

Tortilla’s Food Director, James Garland, highlighted the trend-driven nature of this new item, referencing the viral popularity of cheeseburger smash tacos on social media. He noted, “This is the start of an exciting pipeline of food development, expanding the range of flavours and combinations available to our customers.”
The introduction of the Smash range is intended to reflect Tortilla’s ongoing commitment to blending traditional and contemporary flavours, offering a fresh take on classic dishes. The limited-time menu will be available from Today, September 3, 2024, for six weeks, providing an opportunity for customers to experience this unique fusion of American and Mexican cuisines.
Tortilla is also re-launching its popular Taco Tuesdays promotion, offering a 2-for-1 deal on Smash Tacos to members of its Burrito Society loyalty program via the new Tortilla app. This promotion runs from September 10 to October 15, 2024.
