#FringeQuickies is The Quinntessential Review’s original bite-sized Q&A series with EdFringe performers — fast, funny, and scrollable in seconds. You’ll laugh, you’ll raise an eyebrow, and you might just find your next must-see show.

New Quickies drop daily from June 16 to July 27 2025, all in one big glorious doomscroll. With over 10% of this year’s Fringe taking part, it’s one of the biggest showcases of the festival.

You’ll also spot a few boosted Quickies along the way — from performers helping to keep this whole thing running. We love them. You should too.

  • A Fringe Quickie (#285) with ‘Blodwen’s in Town’

    Questions answered by Blodwen.

Q1: If you could take just one record with you to survive the Fringe — your ultimate comfort, hype, or grounding track — what would it be, and why?

Bring Me Sunshine by Morecambe and Wise. Because no matter how lost or overwhelmed Blodwen gets, she never stops looking for the light. It’s warm, nostalgic, and defiantly cheerful – just like her.

Q2: If your show sent a drunk text at 3am, what would it say?

I’ve got a National Express ticket to London Victoria with your name on it.

Q3: What’s the moment in your show that makes people laugh when they’re not sure they’re supposed to?

Probably when I start talking about cremation…

Q4: If your show had a criminal record, what would it be for?

Daylight robbery – Blodwen will steal your heart.

    Questions answered by Blodwen.

Q1: If you could take just one record with you to survive the Fringe — your ultimate comfort, hype, or grounding track — what would it be, and why?

Orinoco Flow (Sail Away) by Enya. No matter how stressed or unhappy I am, that song immediately transports me to the middle of the ocean where nothing and noone can bother me – just me and the waves and whatever they want to do with me. I’m free.

Q2: How will the audience remember you the morning after?

As the Welsh woman who woke them up and made them want to run off to sea.

Q3: Is your show the type to leave a toothbrush — or just some wild memories and a dent in the pillow?

Escape the Rat Race! would leave a life jacket, a slightly damp journal, and a map. You’re going to want to follow Blodwen.

Q4: What’s something your show reveals about you that might surprise a date?

That I’d rather be barefoot on a boat in yesterday’s dungarees than sipping cocktails in a rooftop bar.

A glass of full fat milk, proven to be more hydrating than water. (Desiree)

The most feel-good date they’ve had in a very long time! (Christopher)

Q1: If you could take just one record with you to survive the Fringe — your ultimate comfort, hype, or grounding track — what would it be, and why?

‘When I Was Done Dying’ by Dan Deacon. It’s all there – chaos, catharsis, absurdity, and something close to transcendence. It makes me feel like everything’s unravelling… but somehow, that’s okay.

Q2: What’s the temperature of your show?

A slow, steady burn. Like sitting too close to a campfire – warm, comforting, but with moments that flare up and catch you off guard.

Q3: How will the audience remember you the morning after?

“That guy who made me laugh, made me think, and somehow made me care way more about the colour yellow than I ever expected.”

Q4: What moment in your show would your grandma absolutely hate (or absolutely love)?

She’d hate the swearing, love the peaches, and quietly worry about the philosophical angst. But I think she’d stay for the singing!

Questions answered by Katie Tranter .

Q1: If you could take just one record with you to survive the Fringe — your ultimate comfort, hype, or grounding track — what would it be, and why?

Donna Summer – I Feel Love. The fringe is a marathon and as the actor David Niven once said ‘keep the circus going inside your heart’. And my inner circus needs a disco beat.

Q2: If your show had a criminal record, what would it be for?

Mesmerizing a member of the royal family without consent resulting in a major national security breach.

Q3: Is your show the type to leave a toothbrush — or just some wild memories and a dent in the pillow?

Smutty poetry on a post it note and an after eight mint

  • A Fringe Quickie (#278) with ‘My Life as an ‘Inspirational Porn Star”

Questions answered by Feeling Inspired? Production, by Gabrielle Leonore.

Q1: If you could take just one record with you to survive the Fringe — your ultimate comfort, hype, or grounding track — what would it be, and why?

Marina’s Princess of Power. I’ve loved her since I was 15 – Electra Heart even inspired the show. Every lyric hits exactly where my head is right now, especially Butterfly & Cuntissimo. It’s the soundtrack for Edinburgh, the rest of my life & beyond. What can I say? I’m a diamond

Q2: What’s something your show reveals about you that might surprise a date?

That I’m hot and autistic. Or technically speaking… hotistic.

Q3: How will the audience remember you the morning after?

A classic love letter of all the fun times we had, how I’ll still love you despite it all, finishing with a kiss mark, some tear blots, and no return address.

Q4: If your show walked into a bar, what would it order?

I’d say a gin dirty martini. Classic, sassy, and means business. Filthy like my jokes, but still packs a punch in a delicate frame. Likes to shake things up—far from stirred.

  • A Fringe Quickie (#277) with ‘Midnight in Nashville’

    Questions answered by Lee Papa.

Q1: If you could take just one record with you to survive the Fringe — your ultimate comfort, hype, or grounding track — what would it be, and why?

In the spirit of my show and because I just love it on so many levels, I’d go with “Me and Billy the Kid” by Joe Ely, but specifically the version on Live from Liberty Lunch. It’s got it all: bravado, romance, violence, regret, chihuahuas, and a guitar riff that blows me away.

Q2: If your show sent a drunk text at 3am, what would it say?

Git your ass over here. Bring your guitar. Don’t bring underwear.

Q3: What’s something your show reveals about you that might surprise a date?

I was raised on country music, so I could tell them all about the qualities of a great Tammy Wynette song or how Townes Van Zandt influenced Taylor Swift. And I can quote lots of Hee-Haw.

Q4: If your show walked into a bar, what would it order?

A shot of whiskey, straight up, because it likes the taste. And all those sodas or juices or mixers just get in the way of the whiskey anyways.

  • A Fringe Quickie (#276) with ‘Fatal Flower’

    Questions answered by Valentina Tóth.

Q1: If you could take just one record with you to survive the Fringe — your ultimate comfort, hype, or grounding track — what would it be, and why?

That’s an easy one! You Don’t Own Me by Lesley Gore. I always listen to it before going on stage — it makes me feel invincible. And since my show is an ode to the hysterical woman, I definitely want to feel like I’m about to cause trouble — the glamorous kind.

Q2: If your show had a criminal record, what would it be for?

    Streaking!

Q3: If your show walked into a bar, what would it order?

My show would definitely order a dirty Shirley Temple (with vodka).

Q4: What moment in your show would your grandma absolutely hate (or absolutely love)?

Actually, my grandma saw the show — and absolutely hated it! The moment she disliked most? A wild bachelorette party scene, where the bride-to-be sings a song called ‘I Will Kill Her’ — about the woman her fiancé cheated on her with. Enough said. Enough said 🙂
